2012 Swim Season

Village Green Swimmers and Parents,

I hope everyone is looking forward to a great summer of Horsetooth League swimming. This summer we will be hosting the City Meet and have a full summer of dual meets planned as well. As many of you know I have been working with Team Vortex the previous two school years as well. Due to the summer growth of Vortex I have many more responsibilities during the Village Green season and as a result will no longer be considered the “head” coach.

Virtually every weekend that Village Green will have a meet over the summer I will be at a meet with Vortex and that means that I cannot commit the full time effort as the “head” coach. My plans still include being at a number of the practices each week and helping the coaching staff take over the duties of the computer entry system and the meet system so that the Village Green meets continue to run as efficiently as they have in the past. This will also mean I will need to provide some support for the City Meet preparations and will be training the Village Green coaching staff to prepare for this. The coaches from last year have expressed interest and there will need to be an addition to the staff if we are to maintain the coach to athlete ratio and to continue to improve the teams practice structure. Summer League
All meets will be on Saturday and there will be have 4 meets plus City and State.

Some teams that you might recognize are: Westfield, South College Community Association (SCCA), Collindale, Fort Collins Club, Paragon Point, Parkwood, and more. There are a total of 15 pools in the league this year. Emphasis is on fun and learning. Swim meets are a little less formal, with officials not required. If you love competition, there are plenty of fast swimmers in the league.

Please feel free to contact anyone on the board if you have questions.  If you are receiving e-mails and your child is not swimming, please let Melissa know so she can remove your name from the list.

We will have space for 120 swimmers this summer. Full payment is due May 23, 2012.

First Practice: Monday June 4.

Parents Meeting: Wednesday May 23, 6:00 pm at the pool.

Party: July 31: Ice cream social, 7:00 pm.

New Regs for year-round swimmers

Year-round USA registered athletes swimming past May 15, 2012 with a USA team will not be eligible for Summer Club State or City meets.  These swimmers are asked to discuss the decision to swim summer league with their current head coach and with Marty.
